Quarterbacks
5 Anthony Richardson, 17 Daniel Jones, 15 Riley Leonard, 12 Jason Bean
Richardson and Jones are competing for the QB1 job, while Leonard is probably safe as QB3, especially with his connections to Rivers and the Mannings. Fan favorite and preseason star Bean will likely be stashed on the Practice Squad so he can continue to develop as a multi-position weapon.

Halfbacks
28 Taylor, 26 Herbert, 21 Giddens, 31 Goodson, 36 Ahmed, 37 Bentley
Suddenly, this position seems full of talent. Taylor is HB1, no question, but Herbert and Giddens will have a spirited competition for HB2, with the loser probably fitting in at HB3. If they want something different at HB3 or decide to keep a HB4, the other guys have some chance of sticking.
Minicamp invitees
20 Darwin Barlow, 25 Ty Son Lawton, 26 Reggie Love, 29 Nay’Quan Wright

Receivers
XR: 11 Pittman, 16 Dulin, 2 Montgomery, 13 Treadwell, 9 Ajou, 43 Kahmann
ZR: 14 Pierce, 10 Mitchell, 8 Parker, 4 Taylor
SR: 1 Downs, 6 Gould, 3 Owen
The Steichen-led Colts tend to be more serious than many teams when it comes to the separation of duties at the receiver positions. Pittman, Pierce and Downs are set in stone as the Top 3, with Mitchell likely to get a spot as a 2024 second-round pick, and Dulin’s special teams skill probably guarantee him a spot as well. Gould has a leg up as the team’s top return candidate. Treadwell is a proven possession receiver, but does not play on special teams.
Minicamp invitees
1 Matthew Akuchie, 2 Jordan Bingham, 10 Michael Love, 16 CJ Wiggins, 33 Trevor Wilson
Tight Ends
TEY: 81 Alie-Cox, 85 Ogletree, 80 Woods, 45 Mang
TEH: 84 Warren, 86 Mallory, 84 Okwuegbunam, 49 McKeon
The Colts play both inline (Y) and motion (F) TEs, with the better blockers getting more time at Y. Warren and Alie-Cox are safe at the top (although Alie-Cox might be in his last season in Indy). After that, it’s a muddle. Ogletree can block, but is not a reliable receiver. Woods can catch, but injuries and condition issues have compromised his career, Mallory has some promise, but hasn’t really produced.
Minicamp Invitees
80 Caeleb Bass, 81 Shane Calhoun
Tackles
RT: 72 Smith, 73 Freeland, 76 Wilson, 64 Foerner
LT: 69 Raimann, 75 Travis, 67 Tenuta
Raimann is a fixture, and Smith is headed into what is likely his last season in Indy. With the addition of draft pick Travis allows Goncalves to compete for the RG1 job, but he might still be who they’ll call on if a starting tackle goes down in 2025, and might still be RT1 in 2026. Freeland has yet to emerge, and the rest are projects.

68 Braden Swartout
Interior Offensive Linemen
RG: 71 Goncalves, 68 Tucker
C: 60 Bortolini, 63 Pinter, 62 French, 67 Vavao
LG: 56 Nelson, 64 Sills
Nelson is set in stone. Goncalves is likely to beat out Tucker at RG, and Bortolini should slide in at C without a problem. Depth comes from veteran C/G types in Pinter and French, but auditions are open.
Minicamp Invitees
60 Jacob Gardner, 63 Marcus Harper, 65 Santana Saunders, 67 Javontez Spraggins, 71 Michael Ford at G, and 61 Bardhyi Gashi, 62 Maverick Hansen at C

Defensive Ends
RDE: 52 Ebukam, 97 Latu, 55 Land, 68 Little
LDE: 51 Paye, 94 Lewis, 91 Tuimoloau, 74 Nchami
There could be lots of changes here. Ebukam appears to be almost all the way back from injury, and, as a skilled pass rusher, and run defender, should hold down a job. Paye is probably the most complete DE, but Latu’s higher upside, and Paye’s rookie contract drawing to a close could mean that Latu could start. Tuimoloau (still unsigned) should be able to leapfrog Lewis, but the others are question marks.
Minicamp invitees
95 Brian Ugwo, 96 Cayden Woullard

Defensive Tackles
RDT: 90 Stewart, 93 Smith
LDT: 99 Buckner, 92 Gallimore, 95 Adebawore, 61 Davis
As everyone knew, depth was the big issue here, but the additions of draft pick Smith and free agent Gallimore should help that. Adebawore faces a scrap for his spot after producing little in his first two NFL seasons.
Minicamp Invitees
90 Deontae Craig, 92 Anthonie Lattany, 94 Dezmond Tell

Linebackers
WLB: 57 Carlies, 30 Wohler, 47 Anderson
MLB: 44 Franklin, 59 McGrone, 58 Ajiake
SLB: 50 Olubi, 53 Phillips, 48 Bachie, 53 DeShields
Aside from Franklin and Carlies, who are entrenched as starters, these guys are mostly special teams contributors and long shot prospects. The exceotion is Wohlers, who is wearing a DB’s number, but projects as an LB for the Colts.
Minicamp Invitees
44 Luke Gunderson, 49 Tevin Shipp, 52 Joseph Vaughn, 57 Devin Veresuk, 59 Jake Chaney

Cornerbacks
RCB: 40 Jones, 33 Womack, 34 Long
LCB: 7 Ward, 29 Brents, 38 Ballentine, 35 Edwards
SCB: 23 Moore, 27 Walley, 39 Johnson
There’s talent here. Ward, Jones and Moore are solid starters, Womack deserves a spot after his excellent 2024 campaign, and Walley should be written down on the roster in ink after being drafted in the 2025 third round. Brents, a former second-round pick, has the talent to be special, but has not been healthy or a consistent defender when he has played. The others are mostly special teams guys.
Minicamp Invitees
3 Dylan Brown, 6 Keydrain Calligan, 17 Evan Slocum

Safeties
SS: 20 Cross, 37 Scott, 43 Tennison
FS: 0 Bynum, 25 Thomas, 42 Dabo, 41 Washington
The Colts appear confident that FS Bynum can run the defense, and SS Cross is a valuable contributor, especially closer to the line of scrimmage. Otherwise, the depth is nothing but questions. Wohler could be a factor here. Keep an eye on Washington, who had a great 2024 at Ole Miss.
Minicamp Invitees
13 Jordan Riley, 31 Shiloh Means
Kickers
3 Schrader, 48 Trujillo
Two big-legged boomers with iffy accuracy will battle it out for the kicking duties.
Punters
8 Sanchez
It’s unlikely that Sanchez will be in much danger of replacement.
Minicamp Invitees
7 Ryan Heicher, 11 Peter Moore at P
Long Snappers
46 Rhodes
It’s unlikely that Rhodes will be in much danger of replacement.
