Updated and Annotated Colts Roster
Many Adds and a Few Subtractions Give Team a Younger, Faster Look
Quarterbacks
4 Seth Henigan
5 Anthony Richardson
15 Riley Leonard
17 Daniel Jones
Jones and Leonard have 1 and 2 down. I think 3 is Henigan, with AR on the roster only until they can get rid of him. They just declined his fifth-year option.
Runningbacks
21 DJ Giddens
28 Jonathan Taylor
37 Ulysses Bentley
-- Anderson Castle
-- Seth McGowan
-- Lincoln Pare
-- Jordon Vaughn
It was obvious they wouldn’t go into minicamp with just two backs behind Taylor, especially those two. Of the four new guys, three are bruisers who can take over on short yardage. I guess that appeal to Ballard more than receiving ability.
Wide Receivers
2 Josh Downs (slot)
6 Anthony Gould (slot)
9 Coleman Owen (slot)
12 Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
13 Laquon Treadwell
14 Alec Pierce
16 Ashton Dulin
83 Eli Pancol
-- Deion Burks
-- EJ Horton
-- Raylen Sharpe (slot)
People are raving about the Burks pick, but I don’t see it — he just wasn’t terribly productive (he averaged just 332 receiving yards and 56 return yards per season). And, yes, I know he can bench press all day, but he’s still very small and can be knocked around. Meanwhile, people are sleeping on NWI, who is much better than his awful season with the Titans made him appear, and is one year removed from a 9-TD season. I’ve marked the guys who are better off in the slot. Burks has significant experience at the slot, but I believe the Colts will try him outside first.
Tight Ends
49 Sean McKeon
81 Mo Alie-Cox
84 Tyler Warren
85 Drew Ogletree
86 Will Mallory
45 Carson Towt
Other than Towt, who is learning the game, there’s nothing new here.
Centers
60 Tanor Bortolini
65 Jimmy Morrissey
The Colts must have faith in Morrissey, since they didn’t add anyone with experience at C, including their backup Gs. Tucker could figure here, but in six NCAA seasons and two in the NFL, his only experience at C has been 15 snaps in the final 2025 preseason game, a 41-14 loss to the bengals in which PFF gave Tucker a 28.6 pass blocking rating.
Guards
56 Quenton Nelson
66 Josh Sills
68 Dalton Tucker
69 LaDarius Henderson
-- Jalen Farmer
Farmer, of course, is the big add, but he still needs some seasoning as a two-year college starter. I expect to see more candidates before camp.
Tackles
71 Matt Goncalves
67 Luke Tenuta
73 Blake Freeland
75 Jalen Travis
78 Bayron Matos
79 Bernhard Raimann
-- Nolan Rucci
Tenuta has the inside shot at T3, with Freeland getting his last chance to stick. Rucci might have the edge over the other projects, and I don’t know why he wasn’t drafted. I think Matos will still have an international player exemption.
Defensive Ends
72 Micheal Clemons
74 Durell Nchami
91 Jaylahn Tuimoloau
97 Laiatu Latu (SU)
98 Arden Key (SU)
-- Caden Curry
-- George Gumbs (SU)
-- Mitchell Melton (SU)
I’ve heard people say that the Colts “double dipped” on the edge in the draft, but it’s not true. In Anarumo’s defense, there is a big difference between standup rushers (like Gumbs) and hand-in-the dirt rushers (like Curry). So, to make things clear, I’ve marked the guys who are better off lining up as standup edges.
Defensive Tackles
90 Grover Stewart (NT)
92 Derrick Nnadi (NT)
93 Tim Smith (NT)
94 Jerry Tillery
95 Adetomiwa Adebawore
96 Colby Wooden
99 DeForest Buckner
-- Cameron Ball (NT)
It’s similar with DTs. Although none of them actually spends most of their time at NT, the guys who can, play NT and 3-tech, while the others play 3-tech and 5-tech. So I’ve marked the guys who can play NT with some regularity. Expect to see them keep more DTs than most teams because of Anarumo’s frequent use of the Grizzly front.
Linebackers
51 Akeem Davis-Gaither
57 Jaylon Carlies
58 Austin Ajiake
59 John Bullock
48 Devin Veresuk
-- CJ Allen
-- Bryce Boettcher
-- Tahj Chambers
-- West Weeks
Talk about turnover. Of the nine LBs under contract, two were with the team last season, and neither of them is a lock to make the team.
Cornerbacks
1 Sauce Gardner
7 Charvarius Ward
23 Kenny Moore
26 Cam Taylor-Britt
27 Justin Walley
29 Mekhi Blackmon
35 Johnathan Edwards
40 Jaylon Jones
43 Cameron Mitchell
39 Rob Carter
People have been crying for an addition here, but there are ten guys, eight of whom have NFL starting experience. Much of the call for reinforcements stems from the likely departure of Moore, but I expect that the next SCB/NB will come from the S ranks, not the CB room. Although it might be Mitchell.
Safeties
0 Cam Bynum
25 Nasir Adderley
30 Hunter Wohler
32 Daniel Scott
33 Juanyeh Thomas
34 Ben Nikkel
36 Reuben Lowery
38 Jonathan Owens
41 Trey Washington
42 Wyett Ekeler
-- Austin Brown
-- AJ Haulcy
Bynum’s solid, but the chess piece spot formerly occupied by Cross has four legit candidates, led by draft pick Haulcy. Despite the fact that there are 12 guys under contract, UDFA Brown has a serious shot.
Kickers
3 Spencer Shrader
10 Blake Grupe
Either way, the Colts will have a competent kicker.
Punter
8 Rigoberto Sanchez
He’ll face a minicamp invitee, but Sanchez is a strong P.
Long Snapper
46 Luke Rhodes
He’ll also face a challenger in minicamp for the first time I can remember.
